I hope (and do think) it will be better when we return! More We will try it again since we are new to the area. Serve a vegetable that's in season or readily available. Maybe offering the kids water and cornbread while we waited? (just a thought but it would have made our wait SO much better). Broccoli is super easy to get fresh year round. They have very little on the menu that doesn't have meat of some sort. The bad: We waited a really long time for a seat (granted, we were a decent sized group) but the hostess wasn't the best communicator. The manager (or owner) said 'thank you' and 'have a nice night' on our way out the door. I really like that they serve multiple things for kids. I like that they had a lot of sides to choose from. I love that they have sweet potatoes baked or fried. The good: I never had peanut slaw before and it was really good. Over the years the food at Fireside has seriously slipped, and with the exception of one or two pleasant waitresses in the dining room, the staff is unwelcoming, starting with a grim barmaid. Put some pizzazz into your food presentation. Suggestion to owner: You should be present to train, monitor and supervise your staff or hire someone to do so. And judging by the unappealing way the kitchen arranges main courses and sides, there's no management back there either. There's no front room manager at the Fireside supervising the sullen staff including a barmaid deep in conversation with what appear to be regulars while ignoring other diners. And get a supply of peppercorns so you can refill them. Suggestion to owner: Buy a case of pepper mills.

The tri-tip melted in my mouth & the chicken was cooked to perfection: juicy & packed full of flavor. He ordered some kind of trio & Mmm mmm Mmmmm!! The rib meat slid off with a fork, which was wonderful because I can't stand eating anything off of the bone. Needless to say by my rating, we were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was relaxed, our waitress was wonderful and had a great sense of humor, and the food was AMAZING! I ordered a chicken salad which was fresh and delicious (a rarity around here at 8:30pm), however I spent most of dinner stealing 'tastes' from my fiancé's plate. I hope they see this review and rethink this particular item on the menuĪfter reading the averaged 3.5 star rating this little restaurant received, my fiancé and I were wary when our friends wanted to group dine there.

Even after saying we did not like it and would not take it home - nothing was comped on the bill. It appears that this place get a local crowd - so do not order the pasta. Would I come back - yes - but for burgers and cole slaw - not the others. Now i had a pulled pork sandwich - tasty a bit wattery for my taste - but good. She ordered a pasta, broccholi, chicken salad - that just did not taste like anything, the spicy sauce was just thrown on it - like everything was cooked separate and thrown into the dish - did not even like it - it was barely touched and the waitress asked if we wanted it wrapped - I said no - did not like it at all. My daughter had the french onion soup and she liked it. I can say the drinks are great and big in mason jars - Raspberry tea was fabulous. This place was recommended to my daughter and I - for burgers - maybe that was the problem, did not order burgers.
